All beaches in Denmark are public, and almost all of our coastline consists of beautiful sandy beaches. The only problem is that the weather is really unpredictable... Summer can be breezy, with temperatures on the low side. But if you are lucky to be there for the few good weeks we do have, it’s the best place in world. The sand is not burning hot, the sea is refreshing – not too salty and never too warm – and the daytime temperatures are around 25°C. And as the sun doesn’t go down until 10 at night, you can enjoy long, light days that never seem to end.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
16 thick slices any bread
30-50g butter
8 slices cheddar or gouda cheese
8 slices tomato

Method

  1. Butter the bread on both sides and put a cheese and tomato slice between each 2 pieces of bread to make 8 sandwiches. Place in a cast-iron sandwich maker and grill over a fire until crisp and the cheese has melted. Serve with cold beer, sitting next to the fire while the sun sinks low over the horizon.
