Peter Kuruvita's Story
Acclaimed chef, restaurateur, author, TV presenter, hotel and restaurant consultant, Peter Kuruvita has been a highly regarded and experienced member of the Australian food scene for over 30 years. Peter established Sydney’s iconic ‘Flying Fish Restaurant & Bar’ in 2004 and Flying Fish Fiji, at the Sheraton Fiji Resort in 2008. Both restaurants are renowned internationally for their creative modern dishes with a strong seafood focus, stunning ambience and locations. Peter Kuruvita spent his childhood in Sri Lanka, where he developed his love of food and flavours by spending many happy hours in the kitchen watching his grandmother prepare ancient family recipes. His idyllic memories of this time inspired his cook book Serendip, a rich collection of Sri Lankan recipes, memories, and a photographical insight into the culture and beauty of the unique island nation. Kuruvita is a well-known television personality, hosting popular SBS series Island Feast and My Sri Lanka, and with guest spots on many other shows including Masterchef and Junior Masterchef. His most recent book is My Feast.
