A guacamole with the addition of sour cream makes it a crema. It is a great basic sauce to complement an array of dishes, such as lamb ribs, tacos or Mexican chicken, adding moisture, subtle flavour and helping to balance chilli heat. You can use left-over guacamole to make this recipe.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
3 overripe avocados
3 limes, juiced
90g sour cream
1 garlic clove, grated
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
pinch onion powder
pinch ground coriander
sea salt, to taste

Method

  1. Halve the avocados lengthways, remove the stones and scoop out the flesh using a large spoon.
  2. Combine the avocado, lime juice, sour cream, garlic and spices in a food processor and blend to make a smooth thick sauce. Season with salt.
  3. Avocado crema is best used on the day it is made.
