Compote of pears and prunes with walnuts

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
750g small pears, peeled
250g prunes
75g walnut halves
375ml dry red wine
275g sugar
small cinnamon stick
2 bay leaves

Method

  1. Place pears, prunes and walnuts in a saucepan, and add wine, sugar, cinnamon and bay leaves. Cook very gently for about 20 minutes or until pears are tender. Cool, then cover and allow to macerate for a day. Remove cinnamon and bay leaves, if liked, before serving.
