Milkshakes can be made using a blender, rotary beater or wire whisk to create a lovely frothy topping.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 glass milk, chilled
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
1/4 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
nutmeg, to decorate (optional)
or cinnamon, to decorate (optional)

Method

  1. Combine ingredients and whisk, beat or blend together. Pour into a long glass and sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon, if liked.

Variations

  • Chocolate milk shake: Substitute 2 teaspoons chocolate topping or syrup for vanilla; top with grated chocolate.

    Strawberry milk shake: Use 60 ml fresh puréed strawberries or 2 teaspoons strawberry topping instead of vanilla.

    Banana milk shake: Substitute 1 mashed banana for vanilla.

    Peanut butter milk shake: Substitute 1 tablespoon peanut butter for vanilla; sprinkle with nutmeg.

    Mocha milk shake: Use 2 teaspoons instant coffee powder and 2 teaspoons chocolate syrup or topping instead of vanilla. Use coffee or chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla ice cream. Top with instant coffee powder.
