A refreshing drink to serve on a hot day.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
10-12 sprigs fresh young mint
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon water, hot
ice, crushed
60ml brandy, whisky, gin or bourbon
fresh fruit in season

Method

  1. Crush half the mint with the sugar using a spoon. Add water and mix until all mint flavour is extracted. Take a tumbler or a large balloon wine glass, almost fill with crushed ice and push remaining mint in, stalks downwards.
  2. Strain crushed mint mixture into glass and pour in spirit. Decorate top of the ice with small pieces of fruit in season, choosing the most colourful available. Put in a couple of drinking straws and serve. If using brandy add just a dash of rum on top.
