Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
125g butter
115g caster sugar
2 eggs
150g self-raising flour
2-3 tablespoons milk
6-8 tablespoons golden syrup

Method

  1. Cream butter with sugar. Beat in eggs and stir in flour. Add sufficient milk to lighten mixture, which should be soft enough to drop lightly from a spoon. Put golden syrup in bottom of greased 1 litre pudding basin. Spoon mixture into basin, cover and steam for 2 hours. Turn out onto a heated serving dish and serve with thick cream and more hot syrup if you wish.
