Orange liqueur and cloves enhance the flavour of fresh figs in this recipe.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
12-18 ripe figs
110g brown sugar
190ml water
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2 tablespoons cointreau or grand marnier

Method

  1. Prick figs with fork. Place in an ovenproof dish and sprinkle with brown sugar. Add water.
  2. Bake in a preheated slow oven for about 30 minutes, basting occasionally with syrup in dish.
  3. Drain figs. Dust with cloves and sprinkle over liqueur. Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
