An American cookie which has become popular since the availability of chocolate bits in the packet.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
185g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
125g butter
55g brown sugar
110g white sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
100g choc-bits

Method

  1. Sift flour, bicarbonate of soda and salt together. Cream butter with sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla and beat well. Stir in sifted dry ingredients and choc-bits.
  2. Drop teaspoonfuls onto greased baking trays, leaving room for spreading. Bake in a preheated moderate oven 180°C for 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
