Serve with roast or grilled pork or ham.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
4 large cooking apples, peeled, cored and quartered
125ml water
55-110g sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Method

  1. Cook apples until soft in covered saucepan, using just enough water to keep them from scorching.
  2. Stir occasionally during cooking. Break up apple a little and add sugar to taste. Stir in lemon juice and cinnamon.

Variations

  • Add nutmeg, ground cloves, a few raisins or chopped nuts.
