Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2kg well-flavoured apples, quartered
500ml cider or water
sugar
3 teaspoons cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice

Method

  1. Cook apples in cider or water until soft. Strain pulp. To each cup of pulp, add 110 g sugar. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick. Pour into sterilised jars, cool and seal. Store in a cool, dry place.
