No carb ‘wrap wrap wrap’

An indulgent dish, but very low in carbohydrate. Without realising it you will be eating a lot of greens here, while enjoying a heady hit of umami, the irresistible savoury flavour.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
250g beef fillet

For the marinade

Quantity Ingredient
1 tablespoon soy sauce
thin wedge eating apple, finely grated
1/2 teaspoon garlic, finely grated
1 teaspoon root ginger, finely grated
1/2 tablespoon chilli powder
1 teaspoon english mustard powder
1 tablespoon sesame oil

For the salad

Quantity Ingredient
1 round lettuce, washed, leaves separated
20g mooli, shredded
1 cucumber, sliced into batons
2 garlic cloves, finely sliced

Method

  1. Put the beef in the freezer for 1 hour to firm up (but make sure you don’t forget about it: you don’t want it to freeze). This will make it easier to slice thinly. Slice the beef as thinly as you can.
  2. Mix all the marinade ingredients in a bowl, add the beef and mix well. Cover and leave to marinate for 20 minutes. Preheat a grill. Grill the beef for 2 or 3 minutes on each side.
  3. To assemble the wrap, hold a lettuce leaf in your hand, add some mooli and cucumber, then some beef and garlic. Wrap the lettuce leaf around and eat.
