Affogato means 'drowned' in Italian. It is a traditional Italian coffee-based dessert that consists of ice cream topped with a hot shot of fresh espresso. We used salted caramel ice cream to make ours.

Method

  1. To make your affogato, scoop one large dollop of ice cream into a cup.
  2. Make or buy an espresso, then drown your ice cream – the perfect morning wake up or an after dinner treat.
  3. You can also top with amaretto, or another similar tasting liqueur for a real flavour kick. Serve with chocolate spoons for added bite.
