I drink this even when I am not sick because it is just so damn good for you.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
100g fresh ginger
100g fresh turmeric
6 lemons
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3 tablespoons rice malt syrup or maple syrup

Method

  1. Wearing gloves so that you don’t stain your hands and look like you have smoked 50 packets of cigarettes in one sitting, remove the skins from the ginger and turmeric using the edge of a teaspoon, scraping against the growth pattern. When most of the skin is off, chop roughly.
  2. Juice the lemons and put the chopped ginger, turmeric, lemon juice, cayenne pepper and syrup in a blending receptacle. Blend until well combined. You may need to get some chunky bits of ginger off your blade every once in a while. Store in an airtight glass jar, in the fridge, until ready to use.
  3. To use, mix 1 heaped teaspoon into a cup of water. You can use boiling water, warm water or sparkling water if you wish, to turn this into a healthy lemonade. Add more sweetener of choice to taste. Drink.

Note

  • There will be some chunky bits left in the bottom of the cup. Think of these like ‘tea leaves’. You can eat them if you want to, or pop them in the compost if the drink was intense enough for you.
