There was a brief period when I didn’t have access to an oven. It was about three months of no baking but it felt like an eternity, no joke. I ended up resorting to awkwardly inviting myself round to my best friend’s house to use their oven, and creating no-bake desserts at home. Tiramisu was obviously one of those desserts, given that it is one of my favourite things to eat. It’s a total cliché to say this but my mum’s tiramisu recipe is definitely the best. Nobody denies it and everyone wants the recipe. I think the secret lies in the tonne of booze that is generously laced into both the creamy filling and spongy ladyfingers. Oh, oh, and the thick layer of cocoa powder dusted on top. I am telling you, don’t be stingy with the cocoa powder; dust it all on. It’ll sink in and make a nice bitter layer to cut through the sweetness and strength of the rest of the dessert.
