Granola is delicious. It’s crunchy, toasty and fully customisable. Throw it on top of some yoghurt with fresh fruit – BAM! Breakfast or dessert. You can buy granola but making it is so much better, as it’s guaranteed to be crisp and you can toss whatever the heck you want into the mixture. Usually granola is made by baking it, meaning you have to keep running back to the oven every few minutes to flip the mixture and rotate the pan to prevent burning. My stovetop version is so much easier and quicker to make. You just need a frying pan, wooden spoon and ten minutes to make it. Low commitment, high reward!

This recipe is gluten-free with vegan options.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
190g rolled oats
35g almonds, roughly chopped
2 tablespoons butter
or 2 tablesponns coconut oil
3 tablespoons honey
or 3 tablespoons agave syrup
or 3 tablespoons maple syrup

Method

  1. Dry-toast the oats and almonds together in a large deep frying pan over a high heat for 5 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Make a hole in the middle of the mixture and add the butter or coconut oil along with the honey, agave or maple syrup. Continue to heat and stir the mixture for a further 5 minutes, making sure everything is well coated. Remove from the heat and allow to cool before transferring to a lidded jar for storage (it will keep for up to 2 weeks).
