Many Lebanese prefer a soothing café blanc to the caffeine jolt of strong Turkish coffee – especially at night time. Known as kahwa beida in Arabic, it is simply hot water flavoured with a few drops of flower water, and sweetened to taste.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
250ml water
sugar, to taste
1 teaspoon orange-blossom or rosewater

Method

  1. Bring the water to the boil and stir in sugar, if using. Remove from the heat and stir in the flower water. Sip slowly.
