Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
100g caster sugar
1 cup ground almonds
200g margarine or butter
2 cups plain flour
1 egg
vanilla sugar, for sprinkling

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C.
  2. Put all the ingredients, except the vanilla sugar, in a large bowl and mix until they form a dough. Roll handfuls of the dough into sausages as thick as a finger, then cut them into finger-length pieces.
  3. Place the biscuits on a baking tray (no need to grease the tray) and bake for 30 minutes, or until browned underneath.
  4. While the biscuits are still hot, layer them in a dish, sprinkling each layer with vanilla sugar. Cover the dish and allow to cool.
