Sweet carrots

A traditional dish to serve on Rosh Hashana.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
6 carrots, peeled and sliced
20g butter or margarine
1 tablespoon brown sugar
ground cinnamon, to taste
1 tablespoon sultanas

Method

  1. Put the carrots, butter and 1½ cups water in a saucepan. Bring to the boil and cook for 3–5 minutes, or until tender.
  2. Reduce the heat to low, then add the sugar, cinnamon and sultanas and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the sauce has thickened.
