Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
2 cups basmati rice
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 cups onion, diced
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
4 cups chicken stock

Method

  1. Rinse the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain.
  2. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion and sauté until lightly golden, then add the garlic and turmeric and continue to fry for a few more minutes. Add the rice and stir for 2 minutes.
  3. Add the stock, stir, then cover the pan. Lower the heat and cook for 15–20 minutes, until all the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is tender.
  4. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
