Duke’s Hotel Bar in London’s Mayfair is known to serve the best martini in London – some even say it’s the best in the world. It’s rumoured that Ian Fleming got the inspiration for his ‘shaken not stirred’ line for Bond in here. If you’re ever in London or in the area and you’ve not been, please go. Just don’t have more than just one martini – these bad boys are incredibly strong. I like them dirty, with a bit of olive brine. Here, I use dill pickle brine instead of olive.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1/2 teaspoon dry vermouth
ice cubes
250ml Cucumber dill pickles
2 tablespoons * cucumber dill pickles [rid:32882], chilled
dill pickle, to garnish

Method

  1. Pour the vermouth into a cocktail shaker and add the ice cubes.
  2. Cover and shake for a few seconds, then strain into chilled martini glasses.
  3. Now pour the vodka and pickle juice into the cocktail shaker.
  4. Cover and shake for half a minute, then strain into the chilled martini glass. Garnish with a dill pickle.
