A classic student fix – cheap, tasty and let’s not forget: quick!

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
1 tablespoon butter, at room temperature
2 slices multiseed or brown bread
1 tablespoon crunchy peanut butter
1 banana, sliced

Method

  1. Butter one side of each slice of bread and lay the bread on a plate butter-side down.
  2. Spread the peanut butter on one slice of the bread, then lay the banana slices on top. Place the other slice of bread on top with the butter-side facing out.
  3. Heat a frying pan to medium-hot and transfer the sandwich into the pan. Fry for 3 minutes until that side is golden and toasted, then flip over and fry the other side for another 3 minutes or until the banana has warmed through. You can also cook the sandwich in a toasted sandwich maker or panini press if you prefer. Slice in half and serve.

Best bread

  • multiseed or brown
