The batida is another classic Brasilian cocktail. It literally means ‘shaken’, and it’s a bit like an alcoholic milkshake: lighter than a caipirinha and thickened with coconut milk. You can make it in advance and keep it in the fridge until ready to serve.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
130ml cachaca
100g strawberries, hulled, plus extra to garnish
50ml coconut cream
1 lime, juiced
4 teaspoons caster sugar
handful ice cubes

Method

  1. Place 2 glasses in the freezer to chill. Put all the ingredients (except the strawberries to garnish) in a blender with a handful of ice cubes. Blend at medium speed until smooth, then pour into the chilled glasses. Garnish each glass with a fresh strawberry and serve immediately.
