We have got superheroes living in our kitchen.

I am not talking about the Pippi Longstocking doll or Spiderman figure that both have the magical ability to always end up on the kitchen floor regardless of how many times we pick them up.

No, our superheroes live in jars. Some are creamy, rich and smooth, others are tangy and intense; we have the sweet and spicy and also the roasted crunchy. I’m talking about all our jars filled with nut butters, bean or vegetable spreads, spice blends, sprouts, pickles and sauerkrauts. A dollop, a sprinkling or a spoonful of any of these on top of a dish has the magical power to take it from very good to spectacularly yummy.

In contrast to our Fridge Favourites, these don’t make up meals on their own; instead we love placing them on the table as a flavour or texture complement. Or simply for dipping vegetable sticks or our Flaxseed Crackers in them. Luise
