Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
a slice lemon, for coating the glass
peel a whole lemon or orange, to garnish
60ml cognac
1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon curacao, (or triple sec)
1 teaspoon see method for ingredients
dash boker’s bitters, (or Angostura bitters)
sugar, for coating the glass

Method

  1. Rub the slice of lemon liberally around one side of a glass then sprinkle sugar over the moistened glass so it forms a sugary crust – this is where the name comes from. Then take the peel and arrange it inside the glass so it spirals up to the top. Put the ingredients into a mixing glass, add plenty of cubed ice and stir gently until the drink is very cold. Strain into the prepared glass and add 1 cube of ice.

Note

  • Tastes a little strong, sour, sweet and aromatic.

Note

  • This is best served in a wine goblet glass.
