Cake flags are a great way to add colour and height to your baked creations. For the Sea-Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake I’ve chosen turquoise and white ribbon.

You will need

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
wooden skewers or plastic lolly sticks
ribbon
a glue stick

Method

  1. Dab some glue on the top of each skewer, wrap the ribbon around the stick and cut a ‘V’ shape into the end. Secure the 2 sides of the ribbon together with another dab of glue.
  2. I also love making these from scraps of nice craft paper and once made a wedding cake topped with flags made from a vintage map print. If you’re making paper flags you can customise them with handwritten messages or use rubber stamps and ink to decorate them.
