This is a plain yet really tasty fruit salad that we enjoy making for parties or get-togethers. It’s perfect with ice cream or as a refreshing addition to a dessert table. You can prepare the fruit salad a few hours in advance; just cover it with plastic wrap and store somewhere cool – but not in the fridge.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
80g almonds
5 sweet oranges
4 beautiful red apples
4 kiwi fruit
100g raisins or sultanas
40g desiccated coconut

Method

  1. Begin by roughly chopping the almonds. Set them aside.
  2. Cut a bit off the bottom of the oranges so that they can stand upright (set aside half an orange for later). Then use a sharp knife to trim off the peel, including the white pith. Slice and cut the oranges into pieces. Wash then cut the apples into pieces (we use bright red apples to add a nice touch of colour). Peel and cut the kiwi fruit into half-moon pieces. Put the fruit in a bowl or on a serving platter.
  3. Sprinkle with half of the chopped almonds, raisins and coconut, then gently fold into the fruit. Squeeze the juice of the reserved orange half on top and scatter with the rest of the almonds, raisins and coconut.
