Serve this scrumptious caramel sauce with ice cream, poached pears or some dainty profiteroles.

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
50g butter
100ml golden syrup
70g caster sugar
4 tablespoons cocoa, sifted
200ml pure cream
200ml full-fat milk

Method

  1. Place all the ingredients in a heavy-based saucepan, bring to the boil and then slowly simmer, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes. Stir occasionally. The sauce is especially nice when served still a bit warm, although it can be made ahead of time and gently reheated.
