The Gentleman's Guide to Cocktails

Gordon Richardson - Creative Director, Topman

"I like any cocktail with a gin base. One of the most memorable ones I’ve drunk was an Aviation cocktail. The very name evokes the days when it was exciting and very glamorous to fly. I first had one in New York in the Flatiron Lounge. Most cocktails can be a bit cloying and overpowering but the Aviation is a subtle, well-balanced mix of ingredients that, if made correctly, has the palest of pale blue hue – something that looks as stylish as it tastes."

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
50ml beefeater london dry gin
25ml lemon juice, freshly squeezed
15ml maraschino liqueur
1 teaspoon crème de violette

Method

  1. Shake the ingredients well, over ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
